Oriented Strand Board
Oriented Strand board, OSB in short is a structural panel that has inherent strength and stiffness. This kind of board is resistant to impact damage, deflection, bending, racking or shape distortion. Wooden structural panels with fastener-holding properties and resistance to split allows nailed even very near to panel edges. Wooden structural panels are stiff, which makes them ideal for most applications. The stiffness is calculated as deflection resistance under uniform & concentrated loads and to forces that could result in panel distortion from its rectangular shape in the panel plane, a procedure called racking. The stiffness feature of this wooden structural panel allows it to be used with no additional bracing by other material. Wood structural panels are ideal to be used for heavy-duty applications in industries. The stiffness and strength of structural wood panels are o the basis of the grain direction in the wood layers, wood species, bond classification as well as manufacturing process.
